Trying to find a PCMCIA wifi adapter that don't use NDISwrapper is not easy. If you want monitor mode and RP-SMA connector, it's worst.

My choice is Trendnet TEW-441PC, simply because it's cheap . This card is supported by madwifi (half-free) and have all of the interesting modes. But there's not antenna connector. So, why not adding one ? Read the rest of this entry »

Using DIY IR receiver with GNU/Linux is quite simple. All you need is a TSOP receiver, a diode, a resistor and a78L05 regulator as explained here. But this wont work with USB/serial adapter and it need a kernel module to directly drive DCD line.

But there is Paul Fox's avrlirc project, using AVR Attiny2313 to connect IR receiver to the serial RX line. It can be used with USB/serial and embedded system with simple serial port like... La Fonera.

Happy time ! The Gimp 2.4 is here ! But it's also update time for my Script-Fu :

Hope this can be usefull for someone. Il you have a HP Procurve 1700-8 (J9079A) 802.1Q switch you can reset the configuration back to default (because of bad configuration or lost password). There is no reset button on the switch box nor inside. To reset the configuration simply put a RJ cable from port 1 to port 2. Light up the switch, wait for bootup to complete and shut it down. Remove the cable and power up again. Your switch is back to default configuration.
